Within this site you will find general information about the District and the ad valorem property tax system in Texas, as well as information regarding specific properties within the district. Knox County Appraisal District is responsible for appraising all real and business personal property within Knox County. The district appraises property according to the Texas Property Tax Code and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP).
Knox County Appraisal District is responsible for the fair market appraisal of properties within each of the following taxing entities. Additional responsibilities include change of address and public information requests.

Our mission is to provide accurate property assessments to facilitate the local funding for our county, schools, cities, and other districts that derive budgets and other operating expenses from local property values.
Visit Texas.gov/propertytaxes to find a link to your local property tax database on which you can easily access information regarding your property taxes, including information regarding the amount of taxes that each entity that taxes your property will impose if the entity adopts its proposed tax rate. Your local property tax database will be updated regularly during August and September as local elected officials propose and adopt the property tax rates that will determine how much you pay in property taxes.
Property owners have the right to request the information from the assessor of each taxing unit for their property. You may find the information through the website above, or you may request their contact information from your local Tax Assessor-Collector listed below.

Taxpayers may register for notifications regarding updates to the property tax database, delivered by e-mail, as well as all other electronic media/updates by visiting https://portal.knoxcad.com/. Note: It is the taxpayer’s responsibility to ensure all accounts are accounted for when paying property taxes. The Knox County Appraisal District is not liable for any accounts that may not be accounted for at the time of payment, missed due to differences in owner names, mailing, and/or physical address discrepancies, etc.
AVAILABILITY OF ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS
Taxpayers may receive electronic notices required by law from the appraisal district. Written agreements with the appraisal district must be entered first to ensure that electronic means of delivery are acceptable. If you are interested in receiving communications in electronic format, please complete form 50-843 and deliver it to the Knox County Appraisal District. The Knox County Appraisal District appraises property for ad valorem taxation of these taxing authorities.
Knox County Appraisal District collects for all of the above with exception to Seymour ISD and Crowell ISD.
